The Sagebrush Chapter of Trout Unlimited has created the Project & Conservation Grant Program with the mission of supporting efforts to protect, reconnect, restore, and sustain cold-water fisheries and their watersheds. Healthy coldwater fisheries are essential in preserving habitat for aquatic animals and birds, small and large animals, and for providing clean drinking water to our communities for generations to come.

This Program is supported by private donations from local citizens that share a common purpose of preserving Northern Nevada fisheries. We are very fortunate that in 2006 Kroening family provided a generous charitable gift to the Sagebrush Chapter of Trout Unlimited to start this program & promote the principles of Trout Unlimited in the State of Nevada.

Brief Biography of Dr. Kroening.
Dr Kroening, M.D., Ph.D., was a Professor and Fellowship Director at the UCLA Pain Management Program and an adjunct professor at the UCLA School of Dentistry. After leaving Los Angeles, he had a practice in Reno where he specialized in pain management for cancers and head & neck traumas. He possessed an avid love for the outdoors & for the conservation of our natural resources. He was a life long member of Trout Unlimited.

Using The Kroening Endowment the Sagebrush Chapter of Trout Unlimited will help provide, to any organization or individuals, grants for conservation, and education and public outreach projects that demonstrate a benefit to Northern Nevada cold-water fisheries and their watersheds.

The Chapter Project & Conservation Grant Program cycle will award amounts between $500 to $15,000. For projects requesting funding over $1000 the project must match one-to-one the award amount with; cash gifts, extramural funding (e.g. local, State and Federal grants), in-kind donations, materials, and/or volunteer labor. We encourage local youth groups (e.g. high school conservation clubs and leadership clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, 4-H, YMCA), non-profit and for-profit community organizations,  community colleges, universities, and local, state and federal government agencies to apply.
